Description Organise and supervise the activities and work of a small team of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of Quality activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner. Implement approved departmental policies, processes, procedures and instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner Supervises the day-to-day operations of Quality to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes and procedures. Lead the laboratory shift team and carry out laboratory analyses effectively and accurately as per applied International methods, completing all assigned analyses on time and to schedule to ensure compliance to safety, quality and environmental policies, procedures and practices as required by business unit. Undertake routine sampling, analyses and information collection for raw sugar, process, utilities and finished product using available laboratory equipment and instrumentation and updates operations managers/supervisors of variation from specification or normal operational parameters which might affect technical performance and quality to ensure compliance to all applicable laws and regulations and the integrity of operations and products. Oversee, direct and carry out non-routine analysis as requested by operations unit and log analysis and other relevant data on the laboratorys data system, accurately and on-time, and in order to be used by process staff and other personnel to control operation(s). Oversee all QC lab operation and testing to approve/ release all finished product, intermediates and raw material tested in laboratory to ensure compliance to technical specification, regulatory and customer requirements.
Qualifications 3-5 years experience in similar industrial process laboratories. Knowledge of Quality systems e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025, ISO 22000 and BRC food safety standards.
