The U.S. Mission in Cairo/ Egypt is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position of Telecommunications Technician.

The work schedule for this position is: full time/ 40 hours per week

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Basic Function of the Position 

The incumbent performs full range of activities including cable network installations, modifications, maintenance, and repair of analog and digital telephone switching systems, and has a proficient knowledge of Fiber Optic and Ethernet cable structures and testing equipment.  The incumbent is responsible for installation, support, and maintenance for the Mission’s voice and data lines provided by vendors to the demark rooms.  The incumbent will provide full maintenance and support to all official residential phone lines at Maadi, Downtown, and other official residences.

Qualifications and Evaluations
EXPERIENCE:  Three (3) years of experience in telephone/data wiring and equipment is required.

Education Requirements:
Two years of College in the telecommunication field.

LANGUAGE:  Level III (good working knowledge) in English is required. Level IV (fluent) in Arabic is required. 


Possess technical expertise in the use of test meters and test equipment, read schematics, work on electrical circuits, circuit boards and line cards. Driving license is required.

Benefits and Other Info
Agency Benefits:
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), locally-resident EFMs and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Cairo/Egypt may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
