Trade & Investment Adviser
The UK is the largest investor in Egypt and an important trading partner. UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the British Government organization that helps UK based companies succeeds in the global economy. In Egypt, UKTI (the Commercial Section of the British Embassy) is a busy and interesting department which works to strengthen business links between the UK and Egypt, building on our historical relationship, our reputation for quality, and our commitment to free and fair trade.
UKTI is now seeking to recruit a full-time Trade & Investment Adviser based in the British Embassy in Cairo. This is a challenging role for a talented and motivated candidate.
The main purpose of the position is to promote and develop British business interests in Egypt in the Energy (Oil & Gas, Renewables, and Power), Waste Management and Security sectors. Working as part of a 4 person team the successful candidate will identify UK companies able to take advantage of the many opportunities in Egypt in these sectors and subsectors, encourage such companies to follow up these opportunities, and support them to enter the market. He/she will also contribute to delivering measurable improvements in the business performance of UK companies already trading or invested in Egypt in these sectors.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Support UK companies to do business in Egypt by providing information about the Egyptian market and priority sectors; identifying business opportunities for UK companies; undertaking research and responding to specific enquiries from UK companies.
Maintain and expand a network of key local business contacts, both in the private sector and governmental institutions. Develop contacts with UK companies and trade associations in relevant sectors in the UK.
Lead campaigns to promote UK sector expertise (marketing, events, seminars etc)
Organise trade missions and commercial visits between Egypt and UK
The successful candidate will have:
A relevant university degree (e.g. engineering, business, management, economics, marketing, communication, international studies, etc.)
At least 5 years’ work experience in infrastructure and mega projects, oil & gas, ports and/or engineering
A track record of successful management and delivery of results in a target-driven organisation.
The ability to communicate in both English and Arabic to a very high standard
A strong team-working ethic, initiative and creativity, good customer focus and excellent inter-personal, networking, time management and communication and influencing skills.
Computer skills (including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, etc).
Experience of line management would be an advantage
Salary and Benefits:
The Position is Band C and the Monthly Gross Salary is LE 10,750 subject to tax as per the usual regulations. We offer a competitive package including medical benefits, performance related bonus, recreational facilities, and opportunities for travel and job related training & development
This is a full-time position: a 36-hour week (normally 08:00-15:30 and 08:00–14:00 on Thursdays but some flexibility may be available)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleaning the Consulate offices and the Consul General’s official Residence (e.g. vacuuming, dusting, polishing, cleaning windows) under supervision of the Office Manager.
Maintaining the external areas of the Consulate and the garden (watering, mowing the lawn, cutting the trees, sweeping the driveway and keeping the garden tidy)
Helping to set-up for functions in the office and the Residence (moving furniture, office supplies and refreshments).
Assisting at official functions, including laying tables, serving food and beverages, clearing up after functions.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Excellent team spirit.
Relevant experience, and evidence of proficiency in cleaning and gardening
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
Good serving skills and willingness to undergo training to achieve the required standards.
Basic English Language is an asset.
Salary and Benefits:
The Position is Band A and the Monthly Gross Salary is LE 3,225 subject to insurance and tax as per the usual regulations.

Post Security Administration Support Officer
The British Embassy, Cairo, invites applications for the position of Post Security Administration Support Officer (Band B).
The successful applicant will be required to support the ROSM in the day to day running of the Embassy Security team administration. The candidate will also be required to develop a working understanding of physical security tasks to increase the overall capability of the security team. Carry out any tasks which support the security objectives of the Embassy as specified by the ROSM.
The main duties will include:
Maintain and monitor leave and duty records for the guard force.
Maintain and monitor all applications for staff passes for new and temporary staff.
Maintain and monitor the LE Staff security clearance database and draft letters to the FCO on clearance matters.
Maintain, monitor and draft correspondence on local security matters, [with translation where required].
Maintain and monitor all records of alarm systems (CCTV, Fire, X-Ray Scanner etc).
Assist with weekly alarm tests of the fire, bomb and incident alarms.
Maintain and monitor records of Satellite phones and radio and carry out testing when required.
To assist the ROSM with implementing the Post Fire and Emergency procedures.
Maintain and monitor the Security Equipment Asset Register.
Assist with security checks of Visa and Consular Public Areas.
Assist with security administration for external functions, press and visitors.
Assist in the preparation and dissemination of local security instructions under the direction of the ROSM.
To undertake ad hoc projects as and when assigned by the ROSM or Deputy Post Security Officer
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook which are essential.
Good interpersonal skills are essential. The job requires tact, patience and an ability to respond quickly and efficiently to demands within a busy security section.
Regular contact with British Nationals may be required therefore fluent English is essential; Arabic would be an advantage (for any expat applicants).
The successful candidate should demonstrate an ability to remain calm under pressure and must be a good team player.
Previous experience in security work would be desirable, though not essential.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check.
Expat candidates may be requires to be security cleared to SC/DV level.
Applicants must have and maintain the appropriate residence status in Egypt to allow them to work. The Embassy will not provide residence visas.
The successful candidate should be willing to work flexible and irregular hours if required.
