The Embassy of Sweden in Cairo is recruiting a Sustainability and Promotion Officer
Main duties and responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Head of Section for Trade Promotion, Culture and Communications and in close cooperation with the Ambassador, as well as under the supervision of Sida’s regional office in Amman, the Sustainability and Promotion Officer will have the following main responsibilities:
- Participating in the planning and execution of the Embassy’s promotion activities.
- Building and maintaining contacts with international development organizations and NGOs in thematic areas relevant to the Embassy’s focus areas.
- Supporting the Embassy reporting in areas related to sustainability, climate, gender equality and human rights, but also broader political analysis and governance issues as requested.
- Organizing incoming visits to Egypt from the Folke Bernadotte Academy, Sida and other Swedish entities.
- Supporting the Embassy’s work with the connection between Swedish trade and development activities in Egypt.
- Supporting the Embassy’s Communications Officer in public diplomacy and social media.
- Supporting the Embassy’s Business and Trade Promotion Officer in business related activities with a focus on sustainability issues.
Requirements:
- A university degree in political science, economics, international relations, communications or other social sciences or relevant field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in a related area.
- Knowledge and experience of event planning, budgeting and execution.
- Knowledge and experience of analysis and reporting.
- Excellent command of Arabic and English in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Excellent communication and networking skills.
Desired skills:
The following are skills that would be useful and considered, though not mandatory/necessary:
- Any knowledge of Sweden or the Swedish language.
- Previous work experience in a bilateral Embassy.
- Previous work experience from international organizations and/or NGOs.
The successful candidate will:

- Demonstrate excellent writing skills across a variety of communication formats.

Employment conditions:
The contract is term limited to six months. The Sustainability and Promotion Officer will work full time. Target date for contract is 4th March– 29th August 2024. Salary is paid in USD and is established according to education, experience, and other relevant criteria.
