Overview
Upwork has partnered with one of their enterprise level client, who is a full-service data compan as they are looking for skilled translators fluent in Arabic (Egypt dialect) to help with urgent, ad-hoc translation requests from Arabic to English.
In this role, you will help native English individuals understand what is being discussed in videos hosted on an online video sharing platform, as well as all the cultural connotations that might be implied.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver top-notch translation of the provided video within a shared Google doc.
- Ensure translations reflect cultural understanding and context needed to understand
metaphors/slurs/slang. - Leave notes where specific and detailed sensitive language is mentioned.
- Ensure that the names of the speaker and listener are there if it is a conversation
between two or more persons.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- You need to be proficient in Arabic (Egypt dialect).
- Attention to detail and exceptional written and communication skills.
- Fluency in English
Nice to have:
- Professional translator experience
- Enrollment or completion of an undergraduate program in a humanities field or field related to translation
