Description — Developing inventory analysis reports and analyzing variances — Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory — Verifying accurate standard costs — Monitoring inventory transactions — Reconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger — Preparing monthly journal entries as needed — Cost accountants are responsible for monitoring all inventory transactions in the general ledger — Must understand different types of inventory methods--such as the average cost method; last-in, first-out (LIFO); and first-in, first-out (FIFO) — Businesses are required to physically count all inventory on hand at least once a year — Assist with planning, execution, reconciliation and reporting of physical counts — Analyze inventory cost variances and other accuracy issues impacting perpetual inventory records — Assist in establishing and implementing inventory policies and procedures — Perform weekly and monthly physical stock checks at all the plants and highlight variances to the management — Ensuring that goods received by warehouse are matched with the actual invoices from the suppliers
Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent • Certificate of CMA is must
