Analyzing financial data to determine the cost of conducting the business. The data analyzed include inventory, labor and purchasing costs. • Preparing reports for management that details costs and its effect on profit. • Monitoring changes in manufacturing methods or engineering design changes to determine the effect on cost and profit. • Preparing journal entries and ensure the manufacturing organization is in compliance with regulatory agencies and tax legislation. An accountant in this position assists in inventories and cycle counting activities. • Creating and reviewing the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems. • Updating bill of material standard costs. • Reporting on break-even points by products, work centers and factories. • Reporting on margins by product and division • Reporting on periodic variances and their causes, analyzing capital budgeting requests and performing cost accumulation tasks. • Accumulating and applying overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles.
Qualifications • University degree in Accounting, or equivalent work experience. • Approximately 1 – 3 years of related experience in Cost Accounting. • Professional certificate is preferred
