1.listening to customer requirements and presenting appropriately to make a sale; 2.maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers in person and via telephone calls and emails; 3.cold calling to arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business; 4.responding to incoming email and phone enquiries; 5.acting as a contact between a company and its existing and potential markets; 5.negotiating the terms of an agreement and closing sales; 6.gathering market and customer information; 7.representing the organisation at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations; 8.challenging any objections with a view to getting the client to agree; 9.advising on forthcoming product developments; 10.creating detailed proposal documents, often as part of a formal bidding process that is largely dictated by the prospective client; 11.recording sales and order information and sending copies to the sales office, or entering into a computer system; 12.gaining a clear understanding of clients businesses and requirements; 13.making accurate, rapid cost calculations and providing clients with quotations; 14.feeding future buying trends back to employers; 15.attending team meeting and sharing best practice with colleagues.
Qualifications Empathy: You need to understand customer emotional and financial needs, both as people and as professionals. Persuasiveness: You need to be able to bring prospects to the realization that buying is in their best interests. Resilience: Being in sales means that youll sometimes face rejection, so you need to be able to shrug off such experiences.
