Job Description
Tasks:
The Digital Graphic Designer is part of the global ICRC digital team. Based in Cairo, s/he works in close cooperation with ICRC offices in the Middle East, some in Africa, and the Digital team in Geneva. S/he will:
• Localise the ICRC’s visual identity for a diverse set of digital products (blogs, infographics, email newsletters, social media products and others);
• Ensure coherence of graphical elements across the range of ICRC's digital platforms, advising the central digital unit on concerns for Arabic style, typeface, layout, design, and additional cultural considerations;
• Develop standardised templates for infographic-style products (printable/PDF, interactive, HTML-based) to be used by regional delegations;
• Collaborate closely with digital officers working on visual assets (photos, videos, animated GIFs);
• Assist the audio-visual team on visual elements for video projects as required;
• Work autonomously and achieve results without extensive supervision;
• Provide backup to the Geneva and Asia Digital Designers as needed;
• Ability to create animated video would be an advantage;
• Ability to train, coach and follow up field colleagues, where relevant, in cooperation with HQ in Geneva, guiding them and advising them on best practices.

• Web designing skills, focusing on mobile fist and being able to design different types of CMS and e-newsletters tools;
• Proficient and enthusiastic about social media, and a user of multiple platforms either professionally or personally;
• Flexible and able to work under pressure, working with international and multicultural teams, and available for short missions;
• Detail oriented and capacity to adapt design depending on the needs;
• Dedicated to the mission of the ICRC and the role of humanitarianism in digital conversations;
• Extensive experience driving engagement and acquisition for a similar organization.

Selection requirements:
• University degree or professional diploma in communication or a related field. A master’s degree in an appropriate discipline would be an advantage;
• 4 years or more experience in digital design, 2 years’ field experience in a humanitarian organization an advantage;
• Solid digital graphic design product portfolio, with experience in brand-building (graphic charts and similar) and standardizing products (templates);
• Familiarity with infographics and mapmaking a plus;
• Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite;
• Ease of use of both Windows and Mac platforms;
• Familiarity with HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML;
• Very strong understanding of UX/UI design, usability, and user-centered design concepts;
• Knowledge of Content Management Systems (Drupal/WordPress) is a big asset,
• Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English, French an asset.
