About the team/role
Reporting into the Head of Localization in DiDi International Business Group, the Arabic Language Specialist will be the language quality gate keeper for DiDi’s Arabic products and content in Egypt and other Arabic speaking international markets. The language Specialist will be reviewing our Arabic translations from the vendors, copy-editing UI and other Arabic content to meet DiDi’s tone and style. This role will be managing the market’s style and terminology guides, and coordinating with different stakeholders including product teams, localization operations, marketing and legal teams to align on language content, choices and quality.
In this role, you'll be...
Provide commercial and creative copy-editing of vendor’s translation from English into Arabic to ensure Arabic apps are native and meet DiDi’s brand guidelines
Review translated app content offline as well as during in-build LQA to ensure language quality.
Act as an app language quality owner and liaison between localization operations team and local offices, to solve problems with internal teams to make final decisions about language choices backed by research and an understanding of industry standards
Curate & update specialized dictionaries, thesauruses and reference guides to confirm closest equivalents for industry-specific terminology
Consistently research legal, technical and scientific phraseology to ensure appropriate translations.
Provide regular and consistent feedback to language vendors in order to improve quality, especially with regard to style
Drive involvement of regional offices and relevant departments in aligning language assets, such as style guides.
Assist with localization projects and vision for the expanding scope of the international business division.

B. A. in Translation, Linguistics, Communications or similar
Native Arabic speaker with passion for technical and UX writing
Minimum 2 years of solid experience as a language translation/review professional or UX writer, preferably in software/website localization
Good understanding of localization and linguistic issues
Strong communication skills and a keen eye for detail
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks
Familiarity with travel market and culture in Arabic speaking countries and regions
Understand the difference of Arabic variants that are spoken in other countries/regions
Self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn and adapt to new systems, environments and processes quickly
Experience using TMS tools, especially Phrase
