Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Digital Technical Specialist aligned to Data & AI brands, you’ll be a collaborative technical expert and trusted advisor working with and across your clients, IBM’s broader sales teams, and Business Partners. You’ll understand clients’ business and technical requirements within the current competitive landscape and, combining this with your knowledge of IBM’s product suite, you’ll present value-driving solutions that compel clients to invest in us.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Deep Technical Expertise in Data & AI Portfolio: Demonstrable client-facing, deep technical subject matter expertise within Data & AI product portfolio, with the ability to engage in complex, architectural conversations.

Excellence in Communication and Collaboration: Provable excellence in people, communication, and collaboration skills, with a track record of networking and influencing, at all levels, throughout the successful closure of complex technology sales cycles (ranging from $250k to multi-million-dollar deals), achieved both independently and through teamwork.

Attention to Detail and System Usage: Proven discipline and attention to detail with the usage of sales management and recording systems, as well as efficient expectation setting and follow-up practices.

Early Sales Cycle Support: Provide technical support during the early sales cycle, including activities such as demos, proofs of concept, and workshops.

Collaboration with IBM Sales Teams: Collaborate with IBM sales teams by leveraging various tools to manage territories and identify opportunities.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Experience in pre-sales engineering working with client subject matter experts to scope and demo solutions.

Skilled in IBM Hybrid Data Management and /or AI Apps Portfolio, including IBM Information Server, IBM Data Stage, IBM Data Quality, MDM, Watson Knowledge Catalog, IBM Cognos Analytics and Planning Analytics, Watson Studio, Watson Discovery, Watson Assistant, and Watson Language tools.

Demonstrated level of business acumen as it applies to the client’s business

Skilled in consultative selling, with an understanding of the client’s needs and IBM capabilities

Commercially minded and capable of supporting end-to-end sales engagements with the ability to think, plan and act strategically

Extensive networking and interpersonal skills in complex environments

Self-starter with eagerness to seek and build new skills
