Description Lead and/or support development and commercialization of new packaging materials or formats for near-in innovation, productivity, or quality projects Provide input to others in the packaging functional group regarding technological innovations, processes, procedures and overall mission and vision of the group Operate as functional lead for various teams charged with packaging innovation for existing and new products Maintain/develop packaging specifications and ensures packaging meets proper specifications, operates efficiently in production and provides adequate protection through the distribution system in a cost effective manner Lead packaging efforts to identify and implement sustainability and cost optimization opportunities through investigation of material, sources, machinery and packaging systems including but not limited to identifying opportunities to improve production line efficiencies Provide technical assistance in troubleshooting packaging related problems Responsible for conducting and coordinating functional testing (i.e. trials, shelf life, vendor evaluations) and monitoring of packaging development activities to ensure timely implementation Interface with multiple internal cross-functional groups (i.e. Marketing, Operations, Product Development, Procurement) and work closely with external suppliers on packaging related projects
Qualifications Strong analytical skills with demonstrated technical competence and initiative. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and deal effectively with people from varying functions and levels. Technical skills, as well as a professional approach to problem solving and business. Leadership skills, insightful business judgment, creative judgment and a sincere interest in R&D. Interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal communication, organization skills, project management skills must be strong. Ability to see beyond immediate details and to link facts and ideas with no obvious connection in order to clarify complexity and develop long term plans Good computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to use CAPE or equivalent software.
