Job Description Job Purpose (State in one sentence the overall objective of the role)

• To achieve agreed sales, market share gain, productivity and performance targets for the area through leadership, management, direction and coaching of the sales team.


Major Accountabilities (Describe the 5-7 main results of the role to be achieved )

• To meet or exceed sales average (sales growth/ market share gain) within agreed timescales – through effective leadership of sales team.
• To achieve agreed contact, coverage and frequency targets through F2F and meetings, and manage delivery of customer centric activities with all primary and secondary care customers - within operating budget.
• Ensure that expenditure does not exceed agreed budgets.
• Ensure effective management of sales team including training follow up and personal development in terms of ongoing training, coaching and counselling through regular field visits and management of recruitment, performance, development and retention of representatives in the area through quality processes - working in conjunction and support from sales training and HR Department/SFE.
• To ensure outstanding personal and team knowledge, and understanding of Novartis OTC priority products, technical information, product strategy, positioning, key messages and programmes.
• To implement with excellence the sales and marketing campaigns adhering to the relevant Codes of Practice/regulations.
• To ensure effective communication which reflects leadership, focus, direction and motivation of the sales team.
• To develop and monitor an integrated operational plan which achieves the sales mix in high productivity.


Key Performance Indicators (Indicate how performance for this role will be measured)

• Agree on Sales target, Sales growth and market share gain (sales growth vs. average, market share gain vs. average, market share).
• Coverage and frequency of target doctors & pharmacies and percentage of doctors in productive frequency.(vs. target)
• Expenditure does not exceed budget.
• Quality and success rate of training and development of sales team.
• Medical/product knowledge including tertiary evaluations of progress. (Of self & team).
• Management of the delivery of customer centric activities.
• Coaching plan/ coaching visits.
• ETMS/ Sales operating quality system.


Minimum requirements • Proven, successful track record as FLM.1-2 years in Pharma environment
• Ability to manage teams.
• Coaching experience.
• Marketing Sciences/product management experience would be beneficial but not essential
