You are responsible for managing the ship’s technical systems as efficiently as possible so that the desired operational objectives are achieved in accordance with the law and internal procedures. You ensure that the ship’s technical systems are available so that the work for which the ship is deployed can be carried out in a safe and efficient manner. To do so, you perform maintenance and repair work on the technical systems and ensure that the use of technical consumables, spare parts, fuel, lubricants and water on board is efficient in order to help reduce costs. You are also responsible for the technical systems and resources that are needed to live and work on board, so that a hygienic and pleasant working and living environment is guaranteed. You carry the work out where necessary, including watch duties. You report any unsafe situations or actions in order to increase the overall level of safety. To this end, you assist during safety exercises in order to ensure that you are able to react properly in the event of emergencies. You are also responsible for the relevant administrative work and reports accounting for events in the engine room.
Requirements:
• Certificate as ‘Chief Engineer all ships with a propulsion power less than 3,000 kW’;
• A minimum of three years’ experience as a watch engineer with comparable duties;
• Valid certificate of fitness for maritime work;
• Basic Safety Training;
• Experience on board supply vessels and/or on heavy transport ships is a plus!
