Description performing accounting and administrative tasks, tracking the budget and putting together class and employee work schedules. Outside of the office, health club managers survey the clubs premises to make sure that equipment is working properly and workout areas are clean and sanitary. It is common for managers to work overtime, night or weekend hours, as well as before or after club hours to finish paperwork and other closing duties. Prepare cash projections for owners or senior management Manage inventory and order supplies and equipment when necessary Recruit, hire, train and manage trainers and support personnel Oversee the activities of trainers and gym support personnel Arrange for maintenance, insurance, repairs and cleaning Design and promote activities that respond to customer demand Ensure that members and patrons are receiving outstanding levels of customer service
Qualifications Health club managers must have strong project management and multi-tasking skills, as they handle a variety of tasks that span across marketing, operations, human resources, client relations and market analysis. These professionals should also be strong leaders, good listeners and effective marketers. It is important that health club managers stay on top of the latest fitness and health trends to attract and retain clientele. Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills are needed to train staff, delegate duties to employees and build relationships with health club members.
