Description Dr. Reem K. Arafa, Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Zewail University of Science and Technology is looking for qualified applicants for a research assistant position. The position is within Dr. Reem K. Arafas research field with wide interdisciplinary exposure. The research conducted will cover the design, discovery and synthesis of novel therapeutically active molecules thus experience is required in the following areas: — Structure based design - docking and ligand optimization. Experience of working on fragment based design projects would be an advantage. — Ligand based design - SAR analysis of project data sets and calculation of ADME/Tox relevant properties. This would also include core replacement work and focused library design. — Virtual screening - using protein X-ray structures and also a variety of a ligand based methods such as shape and fingerprint based technologies. — Protein sequence analysis and homology modelling - experience of multiple sequence alignment and homology modelling experience across numerous protein classes, including GPCRs, would be an advantage. — Various chemical synthesis techniques. — Practices adopted for compound purification and characterization.
Qualifications Applicants should have a B.Sc. Degree at least (M.Sc. is preferred) in drug design, medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry or a related field.
