Description — Review and underwrite applications for insurance to assess risk within company guidelines to meet the companys financial objectives; Handle the issuance and renewal of policies; handle coverage inquiries of new business and policy changes involving analysis and recommendations — Examine documents to determine degree of risk — Analyze proposal rates for reasonability, professionalism and accuracy; Utilize rating tools, reference materials, and other case-specific information in analysis — Handle follow up activities pertaining to policyholders including research, correspondence, data entry, updating files, tracking documentation and mailing — Prepare quotations for sales people and agents and answer questions from agents, policyholders, or prospects; explain company underwriting policies if needed
Qualifications • Minimum B.S medical Degree or Insurance or related fields with an emphasis in business studies; a professional insurance certificate/license is a plus • Experienced in underwriting practices and procedures; exposure to some financial and statistical activities • Possess an analytical background and excellent math skills • Resourceful and controlled assertive behavior • Ability to work under some supervision and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted underwriting practices. • Good organizational skills required and time management • Must have good level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
