- Develop new products and refine existing products to ensure market leadership position. - Provide supervision to other R&D employees. - Lead technical projects aimed at product development or product improvement. - Lead general product development projects. - Maintain and update product specifications and performance properties for research purposes. - Conduct competitive product benchmarking analyses to test paint performance properties and make independent recommendations for improvement of products. - Define test parameters and initiate product exposure studies. - Direct raw material evaluation tests to conclusion and peer review. - Perform color system development and maintenance procedures for tint bases. - Experienced in following pilot batches of new products and directing their successful implementation at paint production sites. - Conduct quality control checks of new scale-up batches or initial batches of new products and troubleshoot problems as needed. - Experienced in evaluation of new materials. - Ability to communicate technical results and recommendations to non-technical personnel is important. Experienced at working in cross-functional teams. - Ability to create, organize and direct presentation of final formulas in peer review meetings. - Interpret and respond to requests for data and information either orally or in writing and answer related questions. - Ability to respond quickly to solving product issues is needed.
