recruiting for an editor-in-chief for a soon to be launched Arabic version of Scientific American. responsible for leading their editorial team to maintain the highest quality for the publication, providing translations from Scientific American & engaging original stories from the region. You will work closely with the executive editor to set the editorial policies and operation framework of the publication. You will work with our experienced team in Cairo to launch the publication and pave the way to make it a leading voice for science in Egypt and other Arabic-speaking countries. You will also be the face of the publication, representing it to stakeholders, audiences, the media and in scientific conferences and seminars.
Qualifications Minimum of five years’ experience in scientific journalism, and at least three years of experience leading editorial teams. •A thorough understanding of the scientific research community and scientific trends, globally and, particularly, in the Middle East. •Positive ability to develop long-term professional relationships with key members of the scientific community. •Strong understanding of new media tools and social networks and how to use them journalistically. •Strong interpersonal and influential communication skills, with effective negotiation and presentation skills. •Ability to identify interesting and important stories and work with their team to flesh them out until publishing. •Highly self-motivated, resourceful and achievement oriented with strong project management skills. •A creative approach to strategic planning and problem-solving. •Active, supportive and inspiring team player with strong team management skills.

Other Skills •Advanced knowledge of scientific research field and trends is essential. •Proven ability to handle Arabic science translations needed. •Ability to communicate complex science in an engaging and exciting way to a general audience. •Previous experience in magazine and online publication preferred. •Knowledge of modern publishing trends preferred. •Experience in managing editors and writers to maintain regular publishing schedules. •Adaptability and flexibility - willing and able to travel as needed by the job.
