The Australian Embassy in Cairo is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to work as the Embassy’s Cashier/LANA Officer, reporting to Manager, Finance and LANA Services.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills in Arabic, English, possess good interpersonal skills and have the ability to follow directions and solve problems.

Remuneration Package

The annual salary will be EGP 81,741.14

Selection Criteria


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/IT desirable
• Previous experience working in an accounting/Finance section in the same capacity in a diplomatic mission or international organisation
• Excellent command of both English and Arabic
• Ability to work under pressure and achieve outcomes
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to follow directions and solve problems
• Familiar with SAP application
• Previous experience in trouble shooting of Local Area Networks

LOCALLY ENGAGED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

CLASSIFICATION: BB3.1

Position No. 5412
LOCATION: Finance Section

DESIGNATION: Cashier and LANA
SUPERVISOR: Manager - Finance and IT Services

Tasks:With limited direction, perform financial and accounting functions as Cashier, including:
• Maintain the Cashier’s Advance
• As a cheque signing officer, sign all cheques drawn on the official accounts
• Receive and keep in safe custody all moneys paid to the Embassy. Issue official receipts and bank all moneys received to the official bank accounts. Record transaction details of all collections. Arrange transfers between official bank accounts as appropriate.
• Pay all accounts for and on behalf of the Embassy; maintain electronic and manual accounting records, including vendors, record all FMA001s in SAP; calculate travel and other advances and debts, record advances, debts and acquittals in SAP
• Prepare monthly Financial Statements for timely dispatch to Canberra
• Prepare A-Based, LES and HOMDOM salaries
• Process and maintain records for official credit card, utilities, residential and chancery telephones, subscriptions, HMA, and medical claims.
• Maintain Register of facilitation payments
• Process travel movement requisitions and maintain relevant records, including register of leave fare entitlements.
• Provide support for the Local Area Network Administrator (LANA), the duties including:
o daily backups and record thereof; system maintenance as required/directed and in liaison with regional RITSC; fault reporting and follow-up; processing of user maintenance, creation of new SATIN users and help requests.
• Other duties as directed.
