Springer Nature is currently recruiting for a Translation Editor for our science publications in the Middle East. This position, based in our Cairo office, will involve working with a dynamic team responsible for several high quality and high impact science publications in English and Arabic. The Editor will be reviewing, editing and revising translated articles to make sure they are scientifically correct and read well in Arabic. The editor will work with their team to produce articles of the highest quality to meet our standards of exceptional science translation. The following are the key responsibilities for the Editor: Edit translated articles, illustrations and figures from Scientific American and Nature magazine to prepare it for publication on the online portal. Translate some material assigned by editorial management when needed to ensure a smooth workflow. Revise translated scientific terms for accuracy to assist in the production of an Arabic science terms glossary. Follow the editorial guidelines to produce accurate and verified material up to the Nature and Scientific American brand standards. Work with Senior Editor to improve the quality of Arabic translation to the highest quality possible. Perform other related editorial duties when needed.
Qualifications Graduate degree from science-related major (Faculty of Science, Pharmacy, Medicine, etc) is preferred. *Demonstrable experience in science communication and translation required. •Advanced knowledge of scientific research field and trends is essential. •Proven ability to handle Arabic science translations needed. •Previous experience in magazine publication preferred.

Other Skills •A sound scientific background and at least some experience working within an editorial team. •Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and familiar with how to handle English scientific words in Arabic. •Excellent written and oral communications skills in English. •Ability to work under pressure and multi task. •Proficient in using MS Office applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook) •Proactive and self-motivated. •Ability to work in an environment requiring attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. •Ability to stay calm under pressure and work well with others and show initiative. •Time management skills, including the ability to keep to tight deadlines.
