Description I. Job Purpose
The Design Manager provides a fully integrated lighting design consultancy for projects requiring specialized lighting strategies. Work on prestigious projects in a variety of sectors, including civic and public buildings, museums, higher education, offices, bridges, sports/leisure, galleries, landscape lighting and urban master planning. She/he has to plan, focus, create, and plot dramatically and architectural lighting, in addition to managing the Design team and motivating them.
II. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Brings out the appropriate mood of the scene by using their lighting accordingly.
- Should be able to plan exactly where to place the lighting equipment.
- Uses direct and indirect light to produce a desired effect.
- Creates presentation materials including renderings and graphic packages.
- Define how much light is required to achieve the desired effect.
- Induce Knowledge & Experience with the catalogues and the Lighting fixtures.
- Select what type of lighting fixtures meets the clients requirements and do site visits if possible. Create 3D Models.
- Communicates with Clients about any issues that might affect the lighting design.
- Attend, host or coordinate department meetings.
- Delegate and review team assignments.
- Conduct team training on new business guidelines or design developments. Guide and motivate fellow employees.
Qualifications III. Job Requirements & Qualifications - Bachelor or master degree in fine arts, electric, architect, or interior design is required. - Minimum experience over 10 years in the same field, of which minimum 3 years as a Manager or Team Leader. - Have excellent communication and analytical skills. - Have problem-solving skills and strong attention to details. - Have good time management skills and the ability to prioritize. - Able to work as part of a team and build strong working relationships. - Good Knowledge of general business computer & Design softwares (Dialux, REVIT, etc...) and aptitude to learn new software. - Must possess basic understanding of electricity.
