Description Post harvest Consultancy assignment of the project value chain is critical toward the overall success of the ERAS Project. The project value chains include Basil, Fennel and Mint. The consultant will work alongside key project program staff, including the Production Post-Harvest (PPH) Team Leader, Post-harvest Lead, Local Technical Trainers, and field coordinators, to develop a post harvest training curriculum that will address critical weaknesses amongst smallholder farmers, POs, University graduates, ATS students, operators, packhouse managers, surface providers and logistics companies.

 PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Training needs assessment
 Identify training priorities for the different sectors (smallholder farmers, POs, University graduates, ATS students, operators, packhouse managers, surface providers and logistics companies) in Post harvest practices and for the project value chain through field visits to farmers in Upper Egypt.

 Develop an optimum Post harvest training program toward different sectors that describe the best practices via a comprehensive program that include all handling stages.
 Developing a ToT curriculum for the local master trainers and university graduates.

 Farmers capacity building
 Assess technical training needs of the ERAS project farmers and training staff; and provide training to ERAS local trainers in each governorate to ensure that they are capable of effectively implementing the project interventions in their governorates.
 Farmers Follow up Visits
 Assess implementation of training recommendations.
 Identify and resolve any field issue as requested by post harvest lead.
 Supervise and assess the local master trainers and technical assistance performance.
 DELIVERABLES:
 Written report on results of training needs assessment;
 Field ToT Curriculum
 Pre and post evaluation forms.
 Post harvest program for the project value chain with detailed description of best practices of every handling stage.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: Experience implementing training of trainers. Advance relevant degree Expertise related to Post-harvest, packing, and cold chain practices. Previous work experience in development project with small farmers is preferable. Experience developing training programs/curriculum

Other Skills PROJECT BACKGROUND: Feed the Future Egypt Rural Agribusiness Strengthening Project (ERAS) is a five-year USAID-funded activity, supported by the U.S. governments Feed the Future initiative. The project aims improve the competitiveness of Egypts horticulture producers and related down-stream businesses and food processors. The project promotes a more competitive and inclusive Egyptian economy through growth in selected horticultural sectors with special focus on securing employment and increasing agriculture-related incomes of smallholder farmers. The project will work in greater Cairo, Upper Egypt, and the Nile Delta, through three strategic regional offices in Luxor, Minya and Gharbia.
