Description Poor agricultural, manufacture and hygiene practices cause serious problems for the quality and safety of agricultural products. These problems are amongst of the most important obstacles that prevent producers from accessing export or valuable local markets. At same time most producers complain from the absence of the quality and food safety calibers within the market. The Food Safety Consultant will work hand in hand with the program staff and under supervision of food safety and nutrition lead (FNS) to help in improving the food safety practices along the target supply chains and capacitate the target graduates in faculties of agriculture and agriculture technical schools to involve in the labor market.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
University graduate training
Develop training materials (presentations, trainer, trainee manuals and handouts) for topics related to food safety (GAP, GMP, GHP, HACCP, FSMA, Food allergies, food defense and food traceability) and certifications (ISO 9001, 22000, FSSC and BRC)
Conduct the training in collaboration with the project team and other consultants
TOT training
Conduct TOT training in collaboration with the project team under supervision of FSN
Develop evaluation tool for the trainees (Pre and post evaluation forms)
Agriculture technical school
Develop training materials (presentations, trainer, trainee manuals and handouts) for topics related to food safety (GAP, GMP, GHP, basic HACCP)
Farmers awareness
Develop food safety and hygiene awareness training materials suitable for illiterate farmers.
Conduct awareness training sessions for target farmers
Gap assessment
Conduct, when required, gap assessments for farms and food processing facilities against international food safety standards requirements and develop the assessments reports.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: At least 10 years experience in food safety sector Experience implementing TOT training. Experience developing training manuals. Proven experience in international food safety standards

The project aims improve the competitiveness of Egypts horticulture producers and related down-stream businesses and food processors. The project promotes a more competitive and inclusive Egyptian economy through growth in selected horticultural sectors with special focus on securing employment and increasing agriculture-related incomes of smallholder farmers. The project will work in greater Cairo, Upper Egypt, and the Nile Delta, through three strategic regional offices in Luxor, Minya and Gharbia
