Duties

The IT Help desk assistant is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Help Desk, which includes network administration and system operations to ensure the best use of new and existing information technology resources via local area networks. S/he is responsible for responding to emails, phone calls, and office walk-ins. The position is responsible for documenting reported problems/incidents, solving tier-one IT problems, and assigning trouble tickets to the appropriate tier-two resolution team as needed. The position requires a high level of technical ability as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Two years of progressively responsible work in Information Systems.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of record communications is necessary to understand the technical language used in documents received for internal distribution and filing. Knowing how to set up an electronic and paper filing and system of records is essential. 

Education Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree.

Fluent in speaking/writing/reading of English is required. (This will be tested)

Fluent in speaking/writing/reading of Arabic is required.

Skills:  The position requires a high degree of technical ability and excellent interpersonal skills.  The incumbent must have a good working knowledge of the Office 365 cloud environment, Mobile computing, and Active Directory Administration for managing user accounts.  (This may be tested).

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Cairo/ Egypt may receive a compensation package that may include health, end of service benefits, insurance, and other benefits.

Per a special and temporary authorization, the salary is currently denominated in U.S. dollars and paid in EGP at the applicable rate of exchange according to the State Department Payroll Office’s official international currency exchange rate. When the conditions are met that the special and temporary authorization should be removed, the salary scale will revert to denomination and payment in EGP, as previously authorized.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office. The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
