Equipment Manager

Job Purpose:

The Equipment Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and utilization of the company’s construction equipment This role ensures that all Equipment is operational, cost-effective, and efficiently allocated to projects. The Equipment Manager works closely with site managers, procurement, maintenance teams, purchasing, and JV partners to optimize fleet performance and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Job Description:

-Assess project requirements and develop an equipment utilization plan to maximize productivity
-Allocate equipment strategically across various project sites to avoid idle time or shortages
-Plan and coordinate the sharing of equipment between JV partners when necessary
-Monitor usage hours, workload capacity, and availability of heavy equipment
-Work closely with project managers and site engineers to forecast equipment needs
-Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure equipment reliability
-Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks on construction equipment
-Coordinate with Maintenance teams to diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns
-Ensure proper servicing, and calibration of all machinery
-Maintain a record of maintenance logs, service history, and repair costs
-Implement a breakdown response plan to minimize delays in projects
-Conduct periodic inspections to ensure compliance with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) guidelines
-Collaborate with the procurement department to source and acquire new equipment
-Evaluate the feasibility of purchasing vs. renting/leasing heavy machinery
-Oversee spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components for maintenance
-Work with vendors and suppliers to negotiate the best deals on spare parts and services
-Track and analyze fuel consumption patterns to optimize efficiency
-Work with finance teams to manage and control operational budgets for equipment
-Generate cost reports on equipment maintenance, repairs, and downtime
-Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining equipment reliability
-Implement equipment safety protocols to reduce accidents and breakdowns
-Conduct regular safety audits and report potential hazards
-Communicate regularly with project managers, site supervisors, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations
-Represent the company in joint venture meetings regarding equipment management

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field
- Certification in Equipment Maintenance is an advantage
- 7-10 years of experience in construction equipment and fleet management.
- Experience in managing large equipment fleets across multiple construction sites
- Prior exposure to JV projects in equipment operations is a plus
